This might be a long shot (I haven't seen The Hills), but maybe it was "Dance Floor Anthem" by Good Charlotte. The chorus goes "Everybody/put up your hands/say I don't wanna be in love/I don't wanna be in love."
I could sound like he's singing "I just wanna be alone". Perhaps?
