So, when should I give up on being a rockstar?!

Question: 1 - If your goal is to "be a rockstar..."

2 - If you have to ask, probably 5-15 years ago

3 - If you're asking people on yahoo answers, who have no idea of your talent or situation...see number 2.

whenever you want to

When your 45 and still living with your mom...and no job.

When your at-home pants fit as tight as your leather performance pants.

When the amplifier turned up over 2/3 of the way makes your hearing aid feed back.

When your grandkids can beat you at Rock Band the video game.

When your power stance throws your back out.

When you want to release an album called "Chinese Democracy", but can't be either Chinese or Democratic on stage.

when you stop enjoying it.

When you start to actually create meaningful, good music.

NEVER! Climb Every Mountain, Follow your dream until it is a reality.

Do you wanna be a rockstar or a musician? Are you anygood as a musician? If you really wanna do it keep trying but also have some sort of career you can do as well otherwise when you get a bit older you ll be screwed for money.
If its your passion and your not crap and disillusioned like all alot of people on those talent(less?) shows, then keep plugging away.
An example off the top of my head is David Grey spent 10 years plugging away and finally "made it" with White Ladder, although i'm not a huge fan, i respect his music and also his drive to keep going.

omg Dan B thats so funny ive been laughing for ages! anyway id say never give up! what else do you have to do?

when you finally take your dirt nap.

If your albums keep selling don't stop. We will be looking forward to your concert in our town.

Keep on tryin', keep on and keep on.

don't keep doing it for fun, but u should probably keep a day job, thats what most indie bands do. they just do it for fun not for the money.

How long have you been at it? How old are you? Have you tried for long on either U.S. coast? (L.A. or New York). How much do you know about the biz? Do you eat, sleep, and breathe Rock and Roll? These are ALL important questions that are very pertinent to your quest if you're to succeed.

If you have children and responsibilities and trying to be a "rockstar" is effecting them in bad ways. If you are caught up in a lifestyle that is beating you up and dangerous. If continuing trying this is going to ruin your future. If you are tiered of it, and if you can clearly see you are going no where and will be going no where. If you truly feel you should stop, then stop. But never stop chasing your dreams if you are not hurting anyone or yourself. Never give up.

Yesterday.

When you can't fit into your leather pants any more and forget where you are.
