Whos better, At the Gates or Carcass?!

Hmmmm.... very difficult question as both were my absolute favourite bands back in the day and I lost all faith in the metal scene when they both split up. The progression by both bands on an album to album basis is incredible and both bands are largely responsible for way metal has progressed now.
I'd have to say Carcass though hands down. From Symphonies of sickness to Heartwork they were untouchable and never compromised their sound for anybody. Personally I think they were at their creative peak around the Necroticism/Tools of the Trade era.
At the Gates on the other hand started out as a very technical band with roots in the early black metal sound on Gardens of Grief and Red in the Sky is Ours, kinda like Soulside Journey (Darkthrone) and became more melodic as their career went on peaking with Terminal Spirit Disease and Slaughter of the Soul. Personally I think their sound changed drastically when Alf Svenson left, losing the darker sound they had on earlier releases, likewise the way Carcass' sound changed when Amott left and they became rockier (Swansong).
Tough question.....hmmmm... Carcass win, more charismatic and better musicians.
Carcass. It's not that I think they are better in any real way. I just find myself listening to them more.
Im a Carcass girl myself. They were one of the first metal bands I listened to. I am not a big fan of Archenemy, even though I have a girl crush on Angela Gossow. I like them better than old Napalm Death too.
Carcass is very original, not that At the Gates isnt.....but the technicality of the songs on Reek of Putrification far surpasses most At the Gates songs.

I don't know either. Probably because I'm not familiar with At the Gates. Carcass has been around for quite sometime already.
