i found two different singers of it george jones and conway twitty. they both had the same lyrics it is probably one of those two that you found. there was also another artist called van morrison but i think it is different then the other two. i couldn't find the writer of the song though
I believe that this was an original song written by Leon Payne and George Jones was a co-writer for the song.
Payne had his own group, Leon Payne and his Lone Star Buddies, but I think George Jones and Payne originally performed this song together and Jones went on to perform it alone later on.
