Does Andy Summers (Police) deserve a place in the pantheon of great Axemen?!

Question: Ok he's a chord man but has there been any better?

Answers: Ok he's a chord man but has there been any better?

I like him. I don't know if he would be on any of my "Top" lists, but he was good.

If you're going to single out members of The Police, Stewart Copeland is easily one of my favorite drummers. That type of technical proficiency was not very common in 80s Pop music.

I would have to say that he does not deserve that. Stewart was the only true musician n that trio.

Sure He does. However there have been plenty of better "Chord" guys but Summers still gets My vote as a great.

I don't see why not. He is plenty talented. They included The Police in that Guitar Hero game, so obviously he is a guitar hero in some form!

Nothing he ever did really inspired me all that much - but there are a lot of great guitarists who just create parts that fit perfectly with the song. He certainly did that. If we are being generous with our admission to the pantheon, then he deserves to be included (but in the pantheon line, he's way back behind Hendrix, Stevie Ray, and The Edge).
