How to replace a tambourine skin?!

Question: I just bought me a nice wooden tambourine But I have one problem. The skin is in plastic and I'd prefer to have a skin made out of leather. I chose one that is tune able because of that. I'd like to get some information on how I can replace the skin and if possible get some pointers on what to look for in a new leather skin and some good brands for drumskins

You need a lightweight piece of goatskin - they come in grades, and should be the same as the ones for bongoes. If the tambourine is adjustable, you can release the adjustments, take off the plastic 'drum head', and replace it with a well soaked (in warm water) goatskin. the goat skin will be quite elastic when it is wet.

Form the goatskin into shape around the edge of the adjustable rim, and over the head of the tambourine in the same way the plastic had been, and tighten the adjustments until the skin forms a good shape - the way it 'should' look when it is finished. Do not tighten it too much, but it should be 'flat', with the wrinkles pulled out. then let it dry and adjust it for tone.
There is one caveat, a tambourine that is made for a plastic skin May not be strong enough for a goat skin.
Good Luck
