well there is more than one type of death metal
here are some of my favs

Extreme Death: Sadistik Exekution
the albums K.A.O.S. and FUKK are the best

Tecnical Death: Psycroptic

Brutal Death: Deeds of The Flesh

Melodic Death: Carcass (later)

Death/Grind: Intense Hammer Rage
