Hip hop started in the Bronx in the early 1970's. People would have block parties, and during one of them, a DJ called Kool Herc noticed the effect that the break beat of the song would have on the audience. So he isolated the break beat and played that in various different ways. This started a new style of dance, called breakdacing, after the break beat. The breakdancers were influential in the hip hop style of clothing. During parties, DJs would often talk over the record and would talk in rhyme to make it more catchy, giving shout outs and saying little catchphrases. This soon evolved into rap, and instead of talking over their own beats, DJs would have rappers come up and rap over them.
Graffitti has been around since ancient Roman times, but modern urban graffitti began as "rebel art" sometimes in the late 60's.
Beatboxing began in the early 80's with Doug E Fresh being credited by most people as the first human beatbox.
Many people who had been living in conditions of abject poverty and had perhaps been involved in crime, were encouraged to turn to hip hop as a way to solve problems rather than using violence. B-boys would have dance offs and rappers would have rap battles. One of the most notable examples of this was the creation of the Zulu Nation, led by Afrika Bambaataa. The Zulu Nation had been a highly respected streeet gang, and their turning away from crime to become pioneers in the hip hop world led to numerous other doing the same.

When Motown closed its' doors to the music industry it left a mist in the air to the Black African American....where do we go from here in question.

New ideas and new innovative music was at hand wiht little result. It did not take a genious to figure out the rap was here long before it was discovered as music.

You have to go way back when Jazz first netered the world and the transfusion to Blues and still this music gained popularity for the Hook in the music not the lyrics.

When the 70's approached the disco era, it was the lyrics to begin hooking instead of the music itself. That is prompted the Gap band to pursue a song that would set the pace in the industry and alerted every label to fight and gain their artists and sign them on as soon as possible so they would not lose revenue. It was a battle for money and they used every conceivable way to achieve that and get the message out that a war was present in the streets where nobody even cared to listen to only when a riot occured then they would listen and forget about it and life goes. Tupac said life does go on, but he made sure that you uderstood what he meant by those lyrics and his music. The message was clear and not only was it clear it had such an impact that our world as a nation began to listen to what was the hottest selling music on the charts today and that reason is becasue the WORD spread in to the majority of the listeners.

We are talking about a revolution in music that is definitely taking turns to enhace it even better and trust me, electronics is only half the success.

Hip/Hop will soon tackle a new dimension to place a level of heart in every American and Non American in this world of Mother earth.

Rappers young and old know what is to prevail and I can say this with honesty that in another 30 years the Hip/Hop will not be the same as it's today because change brings adamation and that brings life even closer to human love than color itself.

Jamaican toasters were rapping over records years before Sugar Hill Gang ever touched a microphone. Rapping over records is a Jamaican innovation.
