Good question. I myself wondered how a rediculous teenie bopper band had any authority on saving lives, but then again I also wondered how you can have a funeral for someone who never died? ...I still can't grasp that concept but to be honest, I don't think I really care to.

The truth is the fans who claim "MCR is a great band! They save lives and they saved my life to!" are nothing more but obsessed,brainwashed fan girls/guys (lol). In reality, if someone is smart enough he/she would know that MCR didn't save their life from commiting suicide, its the person that was suffering that decided to live on (assuming that they were suicidal at that point). I'm also sick of hearing these fake pretending to be depressed emos at my school thinking that their dark makeup (eyeliner,lipstick) etc, and their clothes is what truly make a person depressed. I hate how they have to give a bad reputation for people who are truly depressed, I always get called Emo for liking Metal but Metal is homicide, and emo is suicide, when will people learn? Lol. These Emo attention whores loving MCR brainwashed people make me mad for making depression a fashion mostly and think it something to be proud of. They haven't realized simply piercing their lips,and wearing dark clothes and makeup doesn't make a person truly depressed. Its genetics and/or a bad past that make a person truly depressed that has traumatized them in their subconscious that rape their mind daily. I know what I'm talking about, I'm a real depressant and most of the time I don't have any motivation not to do anything, not even put that stupid makeup or dark emo fashion clohtes that these Emo kids wear.
Sorry I had to go on this rant. I'm just very angered at Emo kids and I hope they all die. Good thing at my school there was an all out Metalheads vs Emos war. The Metalheads (true) brang crowbards and the Emo kids had really skinny pants that limited their movement and couldn't run etc. So they got beat. Lol.
To tell you the truth, I'm a big MCR fan but I have absolutely NO IDEA how MCR saves lives.
The lyrics in their songs are great and meaningful but they DON'T save lives.
I suggest that you ask one of those fan girls (not true fans like me) how MCR saves lives.

I'm not a fan girl and I believe that mcr saves lives...they're saving me...that might sound crazy but it's true...they're music keeps people going...they have anti-suicide messages in their music and just some of the things that the guys say on stage can save lives...
ok so this is wat i think: MCR DOES SAVE MANY LIVES. i kno this might sound stupid but MCR does save lives of many ppl who r either basically suicidal, like to cut themselves or hav been betrayed by their love or life. ok so let me explain this to u as nicely possible. MCR songs might be "gay *** ****" to u but many ppl think it to be their encouragement to live, to carry on nd to defeat their fear or lessen their sorrows. MCR songs lyrics r meaningful - just pick any random MCR song nd try to grasp what its tryin to say. u will feel that it is all sheer nonsense cuz u dont wanna care or give a **** but the ppl who r upset nd bored nd sick of their life hav the time nd patience to gaze in deep inside the lyrics nd the song nd see how encouraging it is. this is not it. credits also go to the band members 4 every single MCR song compostion cuz they make u feel like flyin in the sky whatever mood ur in nd make u feel like "im not afraid to keep on livin, im not afraid to walk this alone". the ppl who listen to MCR songs hav to listen it whole hartedly nd hav to gaze inside the song. its many ppls way of livin. many ppl do say MCR saved my life to just show off but there r some ppl who really say it cuz it is what they think.
yeah this question doesn't really apply to me. i've never been suicidal enough to need saving. but i'm a die hard MCR fan since 2003 and not a fan girl (i don't want to marry them and have their babies lol i never even noticed their looks until people started to point them out in 2006). this question has been asked a lot and like always im going to say: MCR DIDN'T save my life. but they have CHANGED my life. they have helped me discover music like queen, beatles, led zep, anthrax, smashing pumpkins, etc.. and i have to say i love all the bands that have influenced them. and also besides musically they have helped me become a better and stronger person. if you really get MCR you would know what i mean. they have taught me to be myself and not to care what others think. not to let people push me around. their music has always been there for me for the good and the bad. it's helped me in so many ways. they are such great people too besides making great music. like i said they've changed my life. before i was a pushover, insecure, shy,(now im super talkative), honestly they even helped me lose weight cus i use to work out with there music. i was kinda chunky(not to chunky just a tad bit over weight) when i was in middle school. when i started listen to mcr there was this quote gerard said telling all the girls that they are beautiful no matter what size they were i know his purpose wasn't to make people thin but i didnt feel pretty so i lost weight worked out everyday and now im normal weight for my height and all. im actually a really health person and now i feel like that quote, pretty and i get the compliments too. Another thing when my dad would come home drunk he would always want to argue with me about nothing really. so i would sometimes have to bite my tongue and take it all in. and i would start crying uncontrollably and the only thing that could calm me down was MCR. i don't know why. they just do maybe its Gerard's voice maybe its the lyrics maybe its the beat and maybe its all of it but it helps. they help me appreciate life too. well those are some examples. so when someone says "mcr has saved my life" i believe them i could understand i just wouldnt say they saved mines just changed it. ya know? a lot of people are depressed and MCR reaches out to those people lyrically and makes people feel happy gives hope. for some it makes them feel sane, less alone, to know that five guys who are just as messed up as you over came their problems and they do what they do now.
and Dark Numen Malevolence Defender.. i don't want attention. i don't dress emo, i don't wear super dark eyeliner and act all depressed. why be depressed? life's to short. so your just labeling some people you don't know.if anything i try NOT to complain about my problems are life struggles cus complaining doesn't fix anything. and MCR is not emo. they don't talk about wanting to die and don't sing about breaking up and wanting to die cus the girl broke up with them(to me thats emo) they are just rock.
