For really good singers only....?!
Question: I thought I could sing, but recorded myself and realised that I can't, seriously, how do you sing clearly? I'm not nasally, but brassy, I want a clearer voice, how do I acheive this?

aw...that doesn't mean you can't sing just that maybe ya voice sounds different went you hear it back! Some would agree that a 'brassy' voice is unique, just like amy winehouse has a unique voice, you may have one too. Could be your signature that everyone knows you by! As long as it doesn't sound off key!

Be careful not to judge yourself too harshly by a tape-recorder playback. You won't have that good an idea until you at least heard yourself through some sort of recording equipment, you'd be surprised at the difference in quality.
If it turns out with the same problem, I would suggest that you find your comfort range. A lot of people attempt to imitate singers that are out of their range and think they cannot sing because of it. What you do, is pick a lyric, sing it in a tone that puts absolutely no strain on your vocals, then progress up and down until you feel you have to strain hard to stay even on both ends of the spectrum, then you will have a better understanding of your range.
The simple way is to try to mimic the voice of a singer that has the sound you are trying to achieve. This worked wonders for me, but it takes time. Let other people hear you sing (not friends or family) who will give you an honest answer about how you sound. You will reach a point where you just have to accept that you sound a certain way, and that's good because you should want to sound unique. Once you accept your sound, then try to build and improve on it. Your shower voice is usually your "real" voice. Good luck!!
