I think we play ourselves as a whole. Degredation is becoming a theme here. We seem to have no shame, and a huge ego. This illusion is trickling down to every part of the U.S. and is no good at all. I see my daughter dance and want to kick her butt (she's 4), but that is what she sees from those around her and she assumes it's a harmless dance. Of course daddy knows better and tries to change this. Back to your Q, We don't degrade those women because they are grown and willing. They degrade themselves.
nope.....but for another question, you should ask females if they feel they degrade guys by choosing to uphold songs which glorify the street pharmacist as a fitting partner, rather than the man who goes out and does an honest days' work

Not all guys degrade women, and not ALL women are degraded. The only women that guys talk about like that are the ones that put themselves in those situations such as prostitutes, gold diggers, or groupies. But we have respect for the women that are making something of themselves and aren't just stripping to make a living.
I understand if its short term, but it shouldn't be your career
Besides, there are better ways to make money
I actually find it a bit odd why so many of the ladies on these answers seem to idolise these street wanna-be thug/pimps with low mentalities and poor vocabulary but maybe they just like shaking dat azz!

Yes i do feel that todays lyrics are degrading and those who choose to have songs like lil' jons "get low" or camrons "suck it or not" as their favorite songs are inadvertently degrading women if they make it known publicly that they like songs like that (as in "yo im really feelin pop bottles by birdman and lil wayne right now")
I am personally disgusted with this music when it really comes down to it, and find myself more likely to want to listen to an R&B song at any given time of the day.
There is some hope however. Right now, these songs (like "Crank That Soulja Boy" - supersoak that h**) are more party songs and dont have any real meaning to the masses who listen to that "degrading" music.

yes.. it is very degrading but some would say it is juss to make business .. but women have song that also degrade me... it is all apart of a subconscious stereotypes
Yeah, but sometimes- the shoe fits. Rap music influences and if theres more downing than uplifting then youre gonna see women start to live up to the degrading things these certain rappers say.

I'm a female but i'm going to answer this question... Alot of rap music degrades women point blank period. For anyone to believe otherwise would be a lie. But i'm not saying ALL rappers or ALL men degrade women... But most songs do. For every one song that tries to uplift women... There are 10 more degrading women.
Now, me myself... I don't really care about songs that degrade women because the women they're usually talking... Is not the person that I am. So, i'm not offended. But at the same time... That doesn't make it right or anything. You asked this question and the guys didn't really answer your question. They sort of made excuses for their answers. Not saying that there's anything wrong with that... Because i'm guilty of doing the same if I feel like someone is attacking or trying to down talk something i'm passionate about.
So... With that being said... I'm going to say yes.
