Sometimes you can sound like the singer when you sing along to the song. If you do it enough like the singer you can emulate them. I think it's just something in our brains that make us do it.

There is not really a way to impersonate, except just listening to their voice a copy it. Trust me, it isn't as easy as it looks!
There is no specified way to impersonate someone vocally. You can impersonate a stage performance but not vocals. Is either you sound like them or you don't. Try to sing like yourself and make the song yours.
