Why do sad Songs make us cry.?!

Question: I guess it may be something to do with the minor scale in the songs, I know nothing about actual compositions of music but it'll be like chords which strike low notes, making it sound emotional or something like that.

As for the actual reason why they make us cry, it could be explained through many reasons, a few I can think of are:

- The lyrics are very personal to the singer, so therefore they sing it with strong passion and emotion

- It reminds us of someone or something that happened

- The music video makes the songs sadder

There are loads, I guess it depends on the song.

Some songs that make me sad, sometimes cry are:

Coma White - Marilyn Manson
The Speed Of Pain - Marilyn Manson
Only One - Yellowcard
How To Safe A Life - The Fray
The Saddest Song - The Ataris
Ghost Of You - My Chemical Romance
Hold On - Good Charlotte
We Believe - Good Charlotte
Rooftops - Lostprophets
Wherever You Will Go - The Calling

Emotion

because they remind you of a sad time in our lifes

the singers sing about stuff that relates to our live
or remind us about something that happened to us in the past
some are sad
and sometimes your so happy when you listen to a song you tear up
[or mabey thats just me idk]

they dont

because they bring out our emotions. thats why when im sad i avoid them at all costs.

You'd probably have some sort of idea of what the song means in the first place to actually feel what the singer's feeling.

Like, if you had no idea what the song was about, you probably couldn't be as sad as you would if you can relate to it.

And then you cry, because you're on overload with emotion.

They make us think of sad things that we might have forgotten or been trying to forget.
