Started in the 90s or "emerged" in the 90s. Bad Religion, NOFX, The Offspring, Nirvana, Sick Of It All,Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Social Distortion, Fugazi and a ton more have been around a long time, but didn't gain sizable recognition until the 90s.
