Any new decent punk or metal bands?!
Question: Im under the impression that there has been no good music put out since about 1996. ive yet to stand corrected. Blink 182, good charlotte, avenged sevenfold, MCR, etc are crappy pop bands. Please dont answer if those are your favorites. If they are on the radio or MTV they automatically suck. Reccomendations from people over 17 please. The only ones ive found that are even halfway decent are the gallows. Any others? Along the lines of the dead boys, UK Subs, pantera, old anthrax, fear, circle jerks, subhumans, bikini kill, etc.

If it's on the radio or MTV they automatically suck? Metallica had the video for "One" on Mtv. Pantera has whole bunch of videos. Slayer does, too. Slayer has been on Headbanger's Ball like 50 times. And they are the metal GODS. Corrosion of Conformity has videos on MTV. Ever checked them out? They aren't new but they kick a.s.s. Breaking Benjamin is a pretty good rock/almost-metal band, too. I thought they would suck but surprisingly they don't. What about Sevendust? What about Slipknot (not one of my favorites but my husband loves them)?
You are seriously limiting yourself here. You are imposing parameters and limitations on your preferences that are silly. You can't always go by what's played on the radio. One time I saw the Goo Goo Dolls play (this was years ago). I didn't know they were going to be there. Judging by what I'd heard on the radio, I wouldn't have gone if I'd known. Dude, ONLY the songs that got radio play were all sappy and slow. The rest of the songs they did were serious hard rock. I was shocked. What about Linkin Park? That's another band I thought would suck. Chester Bennington has arguably the best voice in rock music, period. As far as Good Charlotte, have you heard their older sh!t? Not this Good Morning Revival bullsh!t. What about Green Day? Their older sh!t is awesome, too. I like all Green Day, as a matter of fact. Try Rancid, Operation Ivy, The Dead Kennedys, The Cramps, The Melvins, The Shins... plus all the old metal. Metallica, Maiden, Slayer, Exodus, Black Sabbath, AC/DC. I could go on and on.
I also want to say that you are what is called a music snob. You think that if it's popular, it's not punk. If it's mainstream it's not cool. Why? Because you have a need to be on the outside. To NOT be doing what everybody else is doing. You want to be the angry, non-conformist anti-society weirdo. Let me tell you something; I'm 28 years old and I've been an Soldier on The Outside since I was like 12 years old. There are better things you can do to show your individuality than being a music snob. In fact, all you are doing is falling into the "punk" stereotype by being that way. That's how all poser punks are; they think it is all about the music and who is more underground. It isn't; punk is a lifestyle. It's an attitude. It isn't about music or tattoos or any of that other surface sh!t. Punk is about originality and individuality.
Are you more punk than I am because you can only listen to sh!t that you've been programmed to believe is real punk? Or am I more punk than you because I listen to whatever the f_ck I want and don't care what anyone thinks? Think about it.
