Well let me put it to you this way: I have a 5 year old brother. I took him to his first rock concert wearing ear-muffs when he was two. He loves the music, is now in drum lessons, and is quite the mosher (sadly).

I also dont want to sound like Im corrupting the kid as some have said, but when a kid that young loves the music, you can deny them.

He also is amazing at naming the bands on the radio, so you know hes got an interest.Music is music, and its good for us as people.
I dont think theres ANYTHING wrong with a kid listening to music.

I see nothing wrong with that at all....hopefully he doesnt listen to emo and like wanna be emo, but if he doesnt then I dont think that is wierd.

I don't think anything's wrong with it. He's a few years young but I believe it to be acceptable. I think that he's being influenced by either peers or television or something like that.

AWESOME!!!!
You should show some encouragement to him. Better than sitting around and getting pissed off! A punk rocker can let some creative energy out! It is a great outlet for him. It's not weird, just something different for your Aunt. She will get over it! Good luck!

i think its cool. hes just "expressing" himself which is ok.

It is cute a phase and shows creativity..my daughter at 10 loved classical I thought I had a prodigy until 2 years later she changed her hair dress etc thank God because buying a10 year old dress suits was rough

That is too cool! Make sure you introduce him to IAN McKay and Minor Threat, Descendants and black flag!!! PUNKS NOT DEAD!!!

in the word of the happy days ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

Punk music is simple and easy to listen to (nothing bad about it, that's just how it's meant to be) so it makes sense that your cousin would be into it.

I don't see anything wrong with that really..?

It's fine... if you want him/her (you said she and he in one sentence, unless you meant your aunt likes emo) to turn out like me O_O.

But really it's fine, guide him/her to some good punk though, don't let them get sucked into the bad stuff early, it's a slippery slope back out, I know. Here's some suggestions:

Stress the Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols, and Damned and it ought to come easy from there.

i was like that i started at 9 and a half. I'm 13 now. =D your cousins awesome!

punk rock was my thing for a long time, since about 4th grade. As long as he's not talking about slitting his wrists, I don't see what's wrong with it.. and, I'm sorry, but it just bothers me when ppl say 'emo'. Emo stands for emotional, so shouldn't all GOOD music be classified as emo? Shouldn't all good music be called 'emo', because it should be emotional, it should take you into the artists world... you know?

You will disagree with me but it is the truth.

Punk is basically dead.

"Punk" today, is currently nothing more then an over commercialized fashion statement, destroyed and mangled for the quick buck. Punk was never about labeling yourself a punk for the purpose of not being "emo" "goth" or "prep". It was a movement that sadly fell to the very same thing that it stood up to.

The only real punks you are going to see anymore are in their 30s through 50's.

I started to like rock/punk when I was about 9/10 but I was too scared to express myself (in dress sense, etc.) because I was scared of what my friends would think of me but when I turned 12 I couldn't give a toss what people thought and I'm 16 now and still rocking out heavier than ever! lol ..so it's good that your cousin is expressing theirself =] and not being pushed to "fit" in with their peers =]..x

Well, my opinion on it is that I hope he's not posing, because there is a whole following behind punk and punk rock about it being for a cause. I can't imagine a ten year old kid being too opinionated on punk music or society for that matter. I'm sure he enjoys the sound of the music, hepoefully somewhere down the road he'll listen to the lyrics and enjoy the purpose of punk music.
