Are Zildjian or Paiste the best cymbals in the world?!

Question: I'm not a drummer - just curious what sticks merchants like these days.
How come turkish gongs have such a good rep?

Paiste, made in Switzerland, tends have a higher tone across their entire line and are generally are only used by rockers. They're also the most expensive overall and harder to find than Zildjian.
Turkish designed (but made in Massachusetts) Zildjians can make every sound that a cymbal can make and are used by everyone in every genre. They're omnipresent, they're the Nike or Coca Cola of cymbals.
Turkish made cymbals have a better rep because Turkey is known for its excellent metallurgy, particularly when it comes to brass. I'm not sure if they invented cymbals, but they damn sure perfected them with cymbals.

If you are talking about large industry, then yes. There are a lot of small companies and 1 man operations that make fabulous cymbals that make Zildjian and Paiste look like amateurs. Good question though.

Paiste is wayyyyy better man

I like Paiste for my style of playing, but Zildjian cymbals are high quality also.
