What are some good rock songs out there...?!

Question: I knowit depends on who you are and your taste in music but you could just post your opinion. I'd like for you guys to please post by bands like pink floyd, metallica, jimi hendrix, the strokes etc. It is just because I am taking guitar classes now and I'd like to broaden my "musical horizons" or something [but only in the genre of rock]. Yeah real "broad" I know :P
Please do not waste your time being rude :(

Well as you have pointed out, rock is very broad, and so are tastes. If you want to go alternative, listening to some Modest Mouse could give you a bit of a taste of some really out there music ( I suggest the song Float On). There are other routes you can go as well, including a more grungy feel such as Nirvana (the album Nevermind if you want the more radio-friendly songs) or Tool, for a more heavier sound.

Some other bands include:

Led Zeppelin
The Vines
The Hives
Arctic Monkeys (cool brit band)
Black Sabbath
The Clash or the Sex Pistols for Punk
Foo Fighters
Old Green Day off of the Shinanigans album
The offspring
Rage Against the Machine
Red Hot Chili Peppers (good for learning guitar)
Violent Femmes (a bit of an aquired taste)

...I guess its late, but i can probably think of more if I had some good thinking time :P

Hope that helps.

Anything by My Chemical Romance.
Anything by Nirvana.
Anything by The Used.
Anything by Jack's Mannequin.
That's just my kinda stuff.. u might not like it..
But they're all brilliant!

Muse ( all their songs are good)

I'm teaching myself guitar and I have found these to be fun to work out. Most are relatively easy but sound great. They would all be a great start as you begin to branch out!

Hotel Yorba - White Stripes (super easy, but sounds great!)
All Sparks - The Editors
Chelsea Dagger - The Fratellis
Starlight - Muse (bit more difficult, but is a good bridge to other Muse songs which have some genius rock guitar work!)

pink floyd - listen to the wall [fantastic album]
shine on you crazy diamond
welcome to the machine

the sex pistols and most punk bands have simple cords just played fast.

Led Zeppelin
Motley Crue
Guns and Roses
Korn
Slipknot
Rob Zombie
Black Sabbath
