Why and how are expensive guitars so much better?!

Question: Gibsons, Martins....they cost a lot more than average, but they are also a lot better....what makes them better? What is done differently to make them play and sound so much better?

They are hand crafted out of supior materials.

usually more time goes into their production and they are made with better materials, i.e. different tonewoods, better hardware and electronics, etc

GOOD ANSWER ABOVE, BUT IT WILL NOT MATTER IF YOU CAN'T PLAY. WHEN YOU GET THREE YEARS OF TIME THEN GO FOR A GOOD ONE.

1. The name says it all
2. They use higher quality materials

I know that in acoustic guitars the type of wood and how old the are make a big difference

Well the cleaner sound is because of the use hum-bucklers.

However, just because a guitar is more expensive doesn't mean it will sound better.

Fender for example has the Jazzcaster and Jaguar models, less expensive than the strat and tele. But still many popular bands, with the alternative genre as a prime example, have used it to great success.

It isnt about the price... its about the sound, for instance Gibson has phenominal electrics but thy're acoustics sound terrible so they dont cost as much.

Acoustics are all about the wood they use
\Electrics are about the electronics and hardware
the better pickups are Dimazio, Seymour duncans and EMGs

Honestly find a guitar made in china or korea, harsh sounding but if a guitar is made in a sweat shop its alot cheaper then handmade guitar. and so long as the fret work and tone is good it doesnt matter about the name brand. (the sound is in the pickups anyways)

Higher end parts, woods, pickups, necks, etc

For Example...
Just like there is major difference between a Lamborghini
and a VW Rabbit.... you can't compare them side by side...no matter how hard you try....

About a $200,000 difference and it all begins with parts, engines, doors, interiors , torque ratios, Pistons,
tires, paint jobs, etc.

Same concept with high end guitars too....
