Is there a place where I can place my fingers on the guitar & just move them up !

keep the same strings pressed, just move up & down on different frets without changing strings pressed?

Yes, they're called Barre chords - see references. But they're kind of hard to play for beginners. You probably want to get your open E, A, D and G chords down pretty well before you try barre chords:

B -------------------2-----
G -----1------------2-----
D -----2------------2-----
A -----2-------------------
E -------------------------
D Chord G chord
E -----2-------------3-----
B -----3-------------------
G -----2-------------------
D -------------------------
A -------------------2-----
