Do you think that when a Rapper has a hit that gets too much Air-Play, it ruins !

Question: I saw one of Ant's questions (although it was really like a sarcastic statement), which made me think of this

I mean, for example

"Lean With It Rock With It" by Dem French Fry Boys was all the "rage" amongst teens for a long time.

"Laffy Taffy" by D4L, was also a song that got loads of Air-Play, but now, who has heard even one of their songs on the radio.

"It's Going Down" by Yung Joc, well Jesus Christ, that song was played everywhere, but now I've only heard and seen one of his songs on television, which is Coffee Shop.

"This Is Why I'm Hot" by Mims, Everyone knew that song, but even though he is somewhat of a newer rapper, he has no other hits.

"We Fly High" by Jim Jones. Does Jim Jones still even rap?

"Touch It" and every single friggin' remix by Busta Rhymes. I know he still raps, but that song was probably his most popular hit.

So, when a rapper has a hit that gets too much Air-Play, does it ruin their career.

I agree to an extent. Actually, "Dem Franchize Boyz" had some other hits such as "Ridin' Rims",etc. As bad as their other songs may be, there were still a few more. D4L had other hits like "Stuntman" and "Scotty". Yung Joc has probably been the most successful of the ones you listed as far as airplay goes. He had "I Know U See It" as well and he discovered Gorilla Zoe. He also had two top-selling albums. Mims, as dreadful as their music may be, they came out with another radio hit "Like This". Jim Jones you are mostly correct about. He has only really been featured on radio hits like "Walk It Out (Remix)" and "Feds Takin' Pictures". and Busta Rhymes i must disagree because he had a pretty successful career in the 90's.

To answer your question, too much airplay doesn't neccesarily ruin a career, it simply puts it on hold for longer than the artist would find pleasurable. You usually see airplay ruining the careers of ignorant, untalented "artists".

?MusicMan?

no I don't think so. their future success just depends on whether or not they can follow up on their hit song

not really and it's Dem Francise Boyz

No but it makes other Rappers jealous,Wich means there not on your side because they want to make a bigger hit

Well... Alot of those are like dance songs. Those go out of style fast because before you know it... There's a new one out.

ruins career? it dependz, some pplz are better underground then when they get to the whole commercial thing. ruins song? yah, im sure were are all tired of a certain song getting played a trillion times a day. but, superstar by lupe bein played on the radio, and i hope he doesn't get like sucked in to the whole mainstream commercial thing and end up getting pumped up with fakeness. iunno.

No, BUT IT SCREWS THE SONG UP!!! Like Crank that sulja boy, Beutiful Girl and Cyclone

No. They just make so much $$$ they take time off to party. They'll be back when they run out of $$$.
