Techno, well... it's a tad complicated. From what I've researched and heard, it's mainly a mixture of synths with common music such as funk, jazz and others of similar type, with a futuristic feeling within the song. Its origins are from the 80's and well it's not that popular nowadays as trance or house.
Now House focuses mainly on the beats, the bass. It takes origins from the mid-80's at Chicago and well, as I said, the principal component of it are the bass sounds, such as different types of drums, electro drums, and mixed up with electronic effects.
Trance: trance is a type of electronic music that arose at Europe in the 90's. It focuses mainly on the synth sounds, sometimes vocals, characterises oftenly by having a high tempo (usually above 130 BPM), combinations of sounds, rythm alteration, breakdowns and usually being very melodic. This one had different subgenres, among them are :
- Dream Trance

-Goa Trance
-Psy Trance
-Hard Trance
- Neo trance
-Euro Trance

techno is more like daft punk.
trance is more like...well its like dance club music. and it has synth in the background...go on itunes and search "trance." then click on "50 techno trance albums" and listen to a song.
