String rattle noise.?!

Question: My Low E string is making a rattle noise on the top/low fret bar. I do have an adjuster to put the string higher or lower and its as high as it can go. It's tuned into Drop D for the heavy metal. How can i aliminate the string from hitting that fret bar? please help thank you.

You could raise the nut a bit on that side, but I'd recommend taking to a music store and having it done (unless its a really cheap guitar). Sounds like the neck might be tweaked just a little. Problem with raising the bridge adjuster all the way up is it makes the action extremely high for frets further up towards the bridge. I've had this problem with one of my cheaper guitars, only on the high e string.
You could also go with a lighter gauge string...that might get you enough clearance so it doesn't hit.
