I LOVE alternative rock. Good Charlotte, The Killers, Flyleaf, The Muse, My Chemical Romance, Madina Lake, Linkin Park, a couple of my modern faves. And of course I'm a huge fan of the 80s: It's all about Depeche Mode, The Cure and Duran Duran. Hmm... do you like electronica music at all? I am afraid to answer your question you will need to be more specific. I have to laugh because everyone on here is listing bands like Foo Fighters etc. which is indeed alternative, but it seems lately "just" this style of music has been labeled alternative. I suggest that you read the book SPIN: 20 years of alternative. The term "alternative" originally was used to describe any style of music that was an alternative to pop. However, people are answering this question with bands that some may consider pop, and only rock bands. Sorry, I feel like I am writing a novel. Anyway, in order to answer your question do you want the best alternative rock song? best alternative techno song? best alternative rap song? best alternative indie song? best alternative country song? best alternative country song? best alternative folk song? answer me that and I will answer your question.
