For me it was Jay Z vs Nas, because they were both at the top of their game when it happened and some amazing music came out of it.
But (and I know I'll get thumbs down because of this), I don't think Ether was as good as everyone else seems to. It was pretty much just a collection of gay jokes that you could hear in any playground. Plus, Nas contradicts himself on it. Fist he says "You seem to be only concerned with dissing women." Then in the next verse, he says "I rock hoes, y'all rock fellas." Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't calling women hoes count as dissing them?
But anyway, I still have a lot of love for Nas, it's just that I don't think Ether is all it's made out to be. But both of them put out some great records during that beef, and it was all on wax, the way a beef should be.
Add: The Common and Cube beef was hot too. Especially since The B itch in Yoo was so unexpected from Common. And I respect them both for acting like grown ups and squashing it once they'd both had their say.
