Nirvana's Nevermind VS Pearl Jam's Ten?!

Question: I think the Ten album is a 100 times better than Nevermind. Nevermind was too exposed and so overated back when both albums were released. I think Pearl Jam did not get the recoginition they deservered. What do you think?

What ?? what ??? are you kidding. Have you actually heard these albums, I cant believe that you have ?? That is how wrong you are !!

Nirvana rulessssssssssssssssssssssssss

Nevermind

Pearl Jam = 100%

Nevermind = Overexposed wrist slashing palp

Your comments about Pearl Jam are true..and Ten is an amazing album...but Nevermind was the soundtrack to my teenage years...some good and bad times...and some of the first tunes that got me playing guitar and playing in a band...so for me...Nevermind and Nirvana are my fav

Yes TEN was much better. All the songs were good without any "filler" songs to make up an album. Well I feel like Pearl Jam was always a step behind Nirvana in the eyes of the media, but at least they are still going strong and putting out quality music for their faithful fan base.

Ten is clearly the superior album. Nevermind was produced to fulfil what the record companies wanted not the fans, that's why it's so much more mainstream than Nirvana's other stuff. Ten is arguably Pearl Jams best album, whereas Nevermind is definitely Nirvana's most overrated. If someone wanted a true picture of Nirvana's music they need to hear the album 'Bleach'

Nirvana, no contest.

Te has some killer tracks like Jeremy,Black,Even Flow,Garden!!! Definitly played more than Nevermind at our Frat parties in the early nineties!! Neverminds fav song would be Come As You Are!! Eddie Vedder is very under-rated and always compared to Cobain, which are 2 different, but unique in their own way!!

Pearl Jm were (thankfully briefly) one of the biggest touring bands on the planet so I don't where the thing about them being unrecognised comes from. I think Nirvana are largely saved from the worst excess of being over-rated by the Unplugged album which showed their songs had some depth, rather than the rather one dimensional creepy soap opera stuff peddled by Pearl Jam. Andagree with Noel Gallagher's quote 'I wish Eddie Vedder would just get on with it and kill himself' and with the statement that neither Nevermind nor Ten are a patch on any Screaming Trees album you care to mention (but particularly Invisible Lantern).

Edit: oooh... Given, I love it - Pearl Jam as the 'Grateful Dead of Generation X'. However, I suspect that they may more likely be the Generation X (English punk band who were never quite as good as they thought they were) to the grateful dead (those who'd rather be dead than listen to anything other than turgid grunge).....

nevermind has some great tunes on it (lithium!!!) but pearl jam released ten without selling out (which nirvana did for nevermind - a bit too pop)

Sonic youth-Day dream nation is even better.

Nirvana win everytime.

Well i think nirvana where well overated as a band, there was so much better grunge bands out there but for some strange reason nirvana stole the show. Personally i think Alice in chains are better that the lot but who am i to judge :)

Nevermind. It was the album that brought the band all their success. Sorry but 10 didn't quite give Pearl Jam that kind of success.

For me,nevermind tops.Ten is certainly one great album but nevermind's much more enchanting simply because it's so scattered and lost-it's like peering into the mind of a schizophrenic!

never-mind started it all. it would be hypocritical to bash it, and then say pearl jams ten was good. if it was not for nirvana, we might still be in the hair band genre. nirvana p0wns all n00bs. lol

I agree with you. Nevermind is not a bad album, but it got overexposed.

To be fair though, Ten got huge exposure... Jeremy, Alive, Evenflow and Black all became hit singles... my favorites are the ones that didn't though..especially Release, Garden and Oceans.

Ten is very much the better release. Its a LOT more musical with intricate but very listenable melodies. There's quite a variety of music as well and every track is a classic.

I think Ten is a pretty good album, which is interesting because outside of that album I can't stand Pearl Jam. I have no idea why really I just can't, it might be Eddie Vedder but I'm not sure. But I think Nevermind beats it out easily. In fact would say that most Nirvana albums beat out Ten. Now if you were to pin Nevermind against Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger or Superunknown well I don't know that would take some serious thinking.

They are both fantastic albums, probably the best by each band...and they even both came out in 1991. But I was a fan of Nirvana first, and I think "Nevermind" was as solid as albums get. I love "Ten" but I think the last few songs didn't seem as strong as the beginning and middle of the album. As for Nirvana being over-exposed, I can see that, but Pearl Jam wasn't much different if you ask me. The radio stations here still play the heck out of "Jeremy" and "Even Flow" as much as they do "Teen Spirit" or "Lithium."
