Do u feel some of hip hops world icons send the wrong message about our music to!

Question: I think it depends on the individual. I'm from Scotland and I love hip hop. I rarely listen to mainstream stuff - I don't see it as a reflection of anything but greed. regardless of what country it comes from. There are plenty of Americans who have totally the wrong idea about hip hop - just read some of the bashers on here.
In a lot of western Europe, hip hop is huge and the underground is given much more support than the mainstream.
Some people will judge an entire genre based on a few lines from some crap on the radio, but that's because they're ignorant, not because of what country they come from.
As far as how America is seen - trust me, with Bush in charge, hip hop is the least of your concerns!

Add: I didn't say it had anything to do with Bush, it was just a joke, lighten up. You're asking if people from places other than America will form their opinions based on what they hear in 50 Cent songs. I'm just pointing out that they won't. Stupidity isn't a cultural thing.

Seriously mate, you need to chill. You asked a question, I answered it. I don't know what your problem is.

Yes.

Not at all.. Some rappers like 2pac used to rap about the poverty and all the problems in the United States back then but he never sent the wrong message because that was the reality.

in some instances yes..i think alot of ppl around the world think american hip hop is just one big gangbangin fiasco

in a way yes and in a way no. yes because this is our culture and sadly this is how it is over here and other cultures (children) might see this and think its all good and want to do what we do, dismantling their cultures beliefs.
no because again, this is the way we are....and if you allow another cultures actions to influence you to go against what you believe in, then you are weak, and the world will eat you alive. Beliefs and morales should come first over anything.....bottom line.

So I am 50/50 on the issue.

No, it's just music.
No one worried about Mozart sending the wrong message about Austria.

Cosign with HNIC on that one, plus the fact that the rest of the world hears our mainstream, and probably gets the impression that we think we are better than everyone else because we have so much "bling"

if we jus change up our mainstream n stuff, thatz gonna change the way the world's view on hip hop. but then again, if they want to judge a whole music genre on a song or two, they need to get dey headz on strait.

i think that they portray rap as a bad thing when in reality its not. nowadays all they talk about is hot girls, sex, drugs, and how much money they make. but old school rap was so much better because it had a purpose, to talk about things that were going on and basically important stuff. some rappers would rap about the struggles of life and what it took to be where they are now. but lately rap is being given a really bad name. me, personally i listen to good music, music that has some significance in my life. whether its rap, rock, techno, whatever as long as the words make sense and send a good message, in reality that's all that matters.

YES, 50 Cent is like God in Europe

I have to cosign with Bonnie...I mean at least take her answer in consideration...well because she's from another country and would/should know first hand how hip hop is precieved...

But yea I dont think that they feel that hip hop is sending a bad message because a lot of them love the pure hip hop anyways...They grasp the artist like Dela or Talib more then ppl like Plies and Wayne. Maybe in the places where hip hop isnt that big and they were to see this they may...But its more so in America that they are looking at hip hop in a bad light because suburbia and most ppl that arent a part of this culture dont understand it.

It's not the wrong message; it is accurate as to portraying the stupid level of the hip hop so-called culture...
