Robert Johnson - 1920s....maybe into the early 30s
Buddy Guy - 1960s-present
Eric Clapton - 1960s-present
Freddy King - 1950s

This should give you a good start

1960s Memphis Minnie, Henry Townsend

I'm not kidding!

Check out martin Scorsese's the blues box set. He did a 5 part documentary on the blues and it was fantastic. He has recordings of the blues in 1912. It is scratchy but man is it great. There is a box set of Cd's that has all the music.

PBS broadcasted it about 3 years ago
