IMHB, I do not consider Jim Stafford to be a country legend. He had only 6 singles on the Billboard country charts, and his biggest hit, "What Mama Don't Know" reached only #61!
All of those facts you mention are wonderful but none of them prove he was a legend in country music. The song Spiders and Snakes was a #3 POP MUSIC hit. Take a look at the country charts and you'll see a very different story. Jim Stafford was a novelty act, that's all.
The only reason entertainers perform in Branson is because they couldn't sell a ticket in any other city. They're all a bunch of has-beens, and in the case of Jim Stafford, never-weres.
To Crazy Country Heifer: I did my research and you would have known that had you read my answer (above). Spiders and Snakes was NOT a country hit. It reached #66 on The Billboard Country Charts. What don't you understand about that?
One more thing: Just because he has done several things, that does not make him a county music legend. Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Tammy Wynette and George Strait are country music legends. Jim Stafford is not in that league.
