Question: I got the Ultimate collection DVD for Christmas, and I have been wondering something about one of the songs. The song "Never Again," is it about Chad's life, or just abused women in general. I have looked on a couple websites, but I haven't found anything. Thanks for your help. :-)

this is about a family where the father has a drinking problem. when he drinks he loses his temper and becomes violent. the song is written from the point of view of a kid in this family, who fears that his father will one day kill his mother ("i'm terrified that she'll wind up dead in his hands"). the mother can't tell the truth about what the father does ("just tell the nurse, you slipped and fell").in the last part of the song, the father is drunk again and is looking for a fight, but this time the mother has had enough, and she grabs a gun and kills him. now that the father will never hurt the family again, we get the meaning of the title, "never again."
I'm pretty sure its just about domestic abuse in general, but you never know, the inspiration for these songs have to come from somewhere.
