Mine would be Too $hort since he is a legend in the West and was the reason many of the west coast legends started rapping

KRS-One
Chuck D
Rakim
NWA
Grandmaster Flash
Afrika Bambaataa
ATCQ
Run DMC
MC Lyte

And I know he's a DJ, not a rapper, but Kool Herc - if it wasn't for him practically inventing the breakbeat, none of it would have happened.

None, lol.

I'll say Biggie though, no musician has inspired me.

Kayne Wests arrogance is a constant inspiration for me though.

I would have to say it's Jay Z & Kanye West.

KRS1

Devastatin Dave the Turntable Slave

krs one period if it wasnt for him and kool moe dee we wouldnt have rap battles and versatile rappers like rakim who proceeded to make more emcees come out in his foot steps

What about Slick Rick, Dougie Fresh. These kats pioneered some ill ****........Laddi daddi we likes to party.

As far as revolutionizing rap you can't leave out NWA, more specifically Ice Cube. Only at that time, he kind of sucks now. Snoop is also pretty revolutionary. Others would include
Wu-Tang
Mos Def
Tribe Called Quest

m&m

bohemia the punjabi rapper

The question is who is the most inspirational rapper or who was?
Past I would have to say Tupac, he inspired many future rappers. You can still hear his influences in rap today through many rappers. He had the biggest impact I feel on rap today.

Present I would have to say JayZ. He is the most consistent in the rap game right now and right behind him would be Naz. I do believe that Naz is more inspirational in what he says and in his content. Jayz is just more popular in sells and advertising himself.

2Pac for sure.. but in the south its more like..
Scarface
UGK (Pimp C and Bun B)
Devin the Dude
Fat Pat
Big H.A.W.K
DJ Screw
Lil KeKe
Slim Thug
ESG
Z-RO
8 Ball
MJG

If you dont know who they are.. google their names they are in the Wikipedia

Kanye, Pac, Chamillionaire nd Immortal technique- wierd mix huh

I would say Tupac and Eminem because they are both inspirational and down to earth when they rap, if you know what I mean.

Lefteye; listen to what she says on the TLC records and on her album Supernova and you'll understand why I chose her.

Tupac would definatley be the most obvious answer, but I think Dr Dre is a legend - just look at all the rappers he brought to the scene, eazy e, snoop dogg, nate dogg, the game - not to mention all the producing work he's done - he's definately one of the best and most original

run DMC were first to break out to a mass white audience and public enemy were massive, but before all that Kool Herc brought it all over"breakbeat" from Jamaica but I bet the kids who listen now aint even heard of him,
in UK, KRS1 and Derek B were bad!!

Grand-Master Flash
N.W.A
Rakim and Eric B.
De La Soul
Ice - T
Ice Cube
Tupac
Run Dmc

But I think who helped to really was Russel Simmons and Rick Rubin. Without those two I don't believe rap or hiphop would be as popular as it is today(or was yesterday).

Del the Funkee Homosapien
Eazy-E
Method
De La Soul
MF Doom

it's dying.....

Mos Def and Common

The obvious would be Common, Talib, or Mos Def

but Pharoahe Monch (my favorite), KRS, Arrested Development, Public Enemy and Edgar Allen Floe are the most influential to me and are seriously slept on. Maybe not KRS and PE

KRS-ONE. He came from being homeless to one of the best and most respected rappers of all time.

Lauryn Hill

let yo gurl lil dookie answer dat question.

Slick Rick...livin legend... Hey young world...true true
A Tribe Called Quest...Relax youself gurl please settle down...classic
J Dilla...why d hell nobody mentioned him...R.I.P.
Mos Def...My umi said shine you light on the world...love it
Common...I met this girl when I was twelve years old....all time fav.

N many more

N people like soulja boy or all dem other "plastic hip hop" makin people are breaking down, what those guys built up their entire life...

sad story
