You have potential. You're good, but you can be better.
First things first. Everything you hear or see on MTV and how pop stars sing? LOSE IT! Do not try and mimic their singing. It teaches you bad habits that are hard to force out later.
It's hard to teach people singing over Yahoo Answers, but I'll give you my advice.
One of the keys to singing is enunciation. When you talk people can pick up tones and sounds of words and don't need to bother hearing the whole word they already. Kind of the way we abbreviate going to goin'. In singing it's bad. It is recommended you practice working on the beginning and ending of each word in song.
Drop your jaw when you pronouce your vowels. This creates a great hallowing sound that projects your voice further. Sort of how an acoustic guitar can be heard.
Some people have a tendancy to tilt their heads up and down as the key changes. This will effect your pitch and cause you to fall off pitch. It kind of ties in with dropping your jaw. Make sure your head is straight and move it when forward and backward slightly for quieter and louder parts of songs.
That's about it from me,
If you want more definetly take up singing lessons. They can teach you MUCH better than I could

nice soft voice.

practice. practice higher songs.
practice scales. take care of your voice.

your voice will get stronger. and remember it takes time
to have a GOOD BAD A$S voice.

Also as I told another person on another question...Don't eat Milk products or candy, mayo etc before you sing. It coats the throat, and the tones don't come out clear. Keep water handy for when your throat gets dry. What ever you do don't strain your voice, you hurt your vocal cords. Any voice coach will tell you this. Be kind to your voice and it will give you many years of pleasure.
