Hank Jr has always worn the beard and sunglasses, when did this start and why?!
Question: several years ago hank was mountain climbing and he took a very long fall.his skull and face were badly damaged .he had reconstructive surgery and had his face and teeth rebuilt.

Long time ago, when he fell down the mountain.
He got his face crushed falling off a cliff the beard covers the scars.
After his accident - pretty well crushed his face - leaving scars.
He started after the skiing accident when he had so much damage done to his face. He was near death after this accident.
Prior to this he looked just like Hank Sr with no beard, hat or glasses.
That boy can sing - and has supported his sorry mother since the day Hank Sr died.

i thought he was drunk,slipped and fell down a cliff. messed him up pretty bad had lots of surgery's he's lucky to be alive. Check out the movie they made of him.
On August 8, 1975, Williams, while climbing Ajax Mountain with Walt and Dick Willy, was severely injured in a mountain-climbing accident near Missoula, Montana. The accident shattered every bone within his face and exposed his brain to open air. It would eventually take nine major surgeries to put his face back together again.
His recovery took two years. In order to hide the numerous scars, Williams adopted the look that would become his trademark, a thick, full beard, cowboy hat, and dark sunglasses.
It started when Hank fell down the mountain at Missoula Montana, He scarred his face real bad and that is why he started wearing the beard, but I think it also damaged his eyes , hence the sunglasses. I was living in Butte at the time so I remember that day well, as it was all over the news
