Do you practice random acts of kindness on R&P?!

Question: I was thinking about Jem's question the other day about meanies:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

On the flip side, do you sometimes find yourself doing nice things for your R&P compatriots? Such as:

Being the anonymous thumbs-up'er
Starring people's questions so they can get more responses
Being kind to newbies
Writing thoughtful answers instead of "idk? never heard of them"

I try to do all that you mentioned out of respect for the others in the community. There's a whole lot of people with great knowledge and answers and just because I listen to a different style of music (although I think my tastes are pretty diverse) doesn't mean that I am right and everyone else is wrong. That's what I love about the R&P section, great folks with different tastes who provide information so we all can learn something new. There ain't nothing wrong with that.

And thumbs up to everyone (although this is not very anonymous)!!

No matter what section I'm in, I never use the thumbs down button. I'll also usually refrain from answering questions for subjects I dislike.

I can write a thoughtful answer if it really means something to me...and sometimes I do engage in random acts of kindness...but do you realize how hard it is not just to start giving off the wall answers just to see if you can get a buzz out of them?

Sometimes. If the questioner isn't bashing people. It also depends on my mood. If an answer is meaningful enough to me I'll give a very meaningful answer that usually scores me Best Answer. But my random rare acts of kindness is sharing rare bands that mostly no one has heard about before. Again just depends on my mood.

I sometimes do the things you've mentioned :)
I also star questions that I can't always answer, but know someone who can.

However, like Darth said on Jem's Q, I do sometimes thumbs-down the people who have obviously done a 'idk' just for the 2 points, and the occasional blatantly offensive post. {there are some people out there who *really* need to grow-up}.

I'm nice to the people who like pathetic bands and assure them that one day they will see why the bands they like really suck!
No but, I'm really nice here.
Except to the people who think think their emo.
Because, no one can be emo.
It's just not possible.

I give tons of thumbs up to intelligent people that deserve them.
And I always try to but as much thoughtful effort into an answer as the question deserves

NO, NEVER AND I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!

just kidding. Absolutely! It's in my personality to share what interests me with others. Being able to share info and experiences with younger people is a pretty cool thing. I don't know where else I could have any interaction with so many younger people. I've learned that there really is hope for R&P music in the future. =]

yep! i do all of those. i was new here during the summer so yeah i leared pretty quick that lots of people are kinda mean on here. and i never answer with an "idk" kind of answer. if i don't know i either look it up or don't answer :)

Well, I guess me and my contacts have a system of always starring questions that each other may know the answer to or may be interested in answering. I know me and conie star Porcupine Tree questions for each other all the time.
I try to give out enough thumbs up, but I sometimes forget, but it's a nice thought. I'll try to do it more often.
For answers, I always give it my all, I don't ever do it for the points.

This is a nice question :0 )

sorry young lady when come to music there is no compromises

when comes to so called EMO aka punk <which is not> peop,e must understand that there is different, so far those teenagers girls have no clue. I give thumb down only EMO answers: like "FOB is the best on earth" which complete bullscrap

well I am touched that you thought of my question enough that it inspired you to come up with your flip side. Star for you! I have a short tolerance for ignorance or just plan laziness (the idk's) but when a real creative question or poignant answer is giving I always commend the asker/answer.

Im new to this section thanks to some great friends of my and they know who they are and in my precious section i will would only thumb up the people that deserved it and alot of my contacts from the wrestling section would star questions and a few of my R & P contacts stars questions also

I am guilty of these things you speak about. I try to answer all questions seriously, but sometimes I just wanna have fun. I do give anonymous thumbs up for good answers, and I do star questions I think my contacts might like to answer, even if I don't answer, plus I'm also interested what their answer would be. I don't do the thumbs down to anyone, nor will I bash a member for their answer or opinion or goofy questions, but occasionally I like to bash a band for giggles..gotta have some fun!! I do these things for everyone.....
And because of such a great question....you get a star.

Yes I do all of those.

:]

Most certainly. I'm so full of the love that I want to give virtual hugs to all the compatriots of the R&P. When you spend as much time as I do on here, it's hard not to feel a special sort of bond between us all. In spite of our differences, we share a great deal in common. Based on all that, it comes very natural for me to want practice random kindness. A lot of things you mention I do automatically so I never really thought much about it before.

I've heard rumblings in the past this place is cliquey, but I don't buy that for a second. I always look forward to meeting new and exciting people on here. A good example is SJG. She came out of the cooking section of all places and has now become the official riot grrl of the room virtually overnight.

I'm a huge fan of the thumbs-up and I have no problem letting people know that I like their answers, even if it is anonymous.

And starring...I've never starred as many questions as I have since I've come into the Music sections. Since some of us are on at different times so it's nice to be able to light a flare over questions for our contacts. And it's nice to let a fellow R&Per know that you dig their contributions.

And I've never given a response for points, and I get very aggravated that those who do! *grrr*
