What should i do to let the people of the world hear my self-composed piano musi!

Question: I've composed a piano music cd which i recorded in a professional recording studio back then in the year 1999. I did try to send my music cd sample to local music companies..only one company replied saying that it's good but lack background music.. as it was only piano. I received quite a few good reviews at that time...Anyway...it was buried then and now it resurfaced when i was cleaning my apartment.... Hmmm...much have changed now with the world, especially the internet. I've always wanted to be a musician...something like yanni or richard clayderman....Anyone knows what should i do to let the people of the world hear my music?

You did not mention, whether or not, you have obtained a copyright for your composition(s).
If you haven't, do yourself a favor, fill out the application and send a $30.00 money order (as they are more easily processed, than a check) for the filing fee, include a disc or written copy of the music and make it legally yours.
The Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. will send you the forms at no cost.
Processing can take as little as 2 months.
Without a copyright, your composition(s) are "up for grabs" and anyone can obtain a copyright of your work, once they have a copy.
Performing your compositions at local functions, clubs and churches would give you some exposure and a chance to sell CD's, directly to your audience, thus eliminating the "middle man", and giving you a wider margin of profit.
Blank CD's, cases and labels can be purchased at any office supply or Wal-Mart, and created on your home computer. Price your product reasonably and see where it leads.
Be sure to incorporate a few pieces from other artists, in your concert, which may appeal to your audience, to show your versatility, but do not include them in the CD's (copyright laws of infringement).
Perhaps there's a local piano bar, in need of your services.
They usually let people play for tips; it 's more exposure than keeping your music in a drawer, where no one can hear it. Maybe, they would be willing to let you sell your CD's on the premises.
Local talent shows could be another outlet for you.
I wish you success.

Let us hear it! There will never be enough music in the world, and who knows? Maybe your music will change something for someone and make an impact? I say GO FOR IT! :D

Good luck!

Post videos of yourself playing on youtube, and any other video site you can think of. Myspace has communities devoted to music, and you can upload your music and video files to your page. Then start e-mailing links to all of your friends and ask them to spread the word.

You could get someone to film you playing and singing your songs with the piano and then put them onto youtube. If it does well you could then try getting interviews with local radiostations. Then progress on from there start sending your CD's to music companies, ask for reviews, see how you could make your songs better. Then try making some new music. Hope this helps.

Upload the onto the Internet and give us the link so we can hear it

Start a website (Myspace or ?), upload your music, do local concerts, send demos around to record labels, network to find music biz contacts, etc.

Persistance pays off.

Set up a myspace account - that was the origin of myspace, for "independent" artists to share their music and information about the band/artist. There are also sites which will allow you to sell or share your music onlilne - some of which specialize in indie/unknown artists.

I'm in the same boat - never got them on CD (CD's didn't exist back then!) but I wrote quite a bit of piano music in my youth - am working on digitizing it to start my own myspace music page. Good Luck!
