Is there a violin played on the track "All Of My Love" by Led Zeppelin!

Question: I've always loved that song, and i've noticed it sounds like there is a violin played at the very beginning.

Does anyone know if there is?

No, that was a synthesizer which was played by John Paul Jones. Interestingly enough, this was only one of two songs by Led Zeppelin that Jimmy Page had no part in writing. The other was "South Bound Saurez" which also appeared on "In Throught The Out Door".

No. Much like Kashmir, which sounds allot like it has many string instruments in it, it is actually JPJ on a synthesizer.

I love that song to. I also love how Robert Plant has never really said anything about whether it is or isn't about the death of his son while he was away on tour. That song has more heart and emotion in both the lyrics and the way it was sung than any of Zeppelin's songs. I love it. Jimmy Page is an amazing writer but here, Plant really shows himself as the superior song writer of the writing team.
