What makes Soldja Boy so bad?!

Question: For those of us who listen to mainly underground music and conscious rappers. For those of us who pray for the day "Real" hip hop returns. I ask what is so bad about Soldja Boy? His music is marketed for a specific group. And it just so happens this group SUPPORTS him to the point that he is number one everywhere, but how is his music "killing" hip hop. He is not claiming to be the best lyricist nor is he claiming that his music is meant for the "hip hop" heads. I often hear critique of what "his type" of music is teaching little kids..yet these critiques are often coming from the same parents who have not taken the time to TEACH there own children right from wrong. My daughter listens to a lot of rap music...commercial and hip hop and she likes both. But she is not at school trying to "pop, lock n drop" or "superman a h--"because I taught her whats right and whats wrong. Not Soldja Boy. I am not a fan of his music , but why hate a 17yr old kid who found a LEGAL way to make money?

I feel you...but I think younger generation are furious at the fact that he is a bad representation for rap...when there are artist like the Roots and Common, (insert your favorite rapper with skills here) arent getting any burn...I had to calm down myself and think about it...Like ppl were jumping on Lil Momma but is something for lil kids her age and younger to listen to(and the fact that lil momma at least sounds more skilled then SB)....Yea its annoying to hear the bubble gum rap...But its for the kids too me...I mean when I came up we had only one type of rap...that was rap made about the streets or adult type things...But nothing was directed specfically to KIDS until the Fresh Prince came out...But he wasnt that kid oriented either at all time. But we respected our parents to not believe everything that was on the radio or TV or said the curses on the songs...lol

But WE know whats gonna happen to Soulja Boy this is prolly his last album...just like the rest of the ppl like him...At least like you said he will have made money legally to hopefully go to college with.

Soulja Boy's digital record sales>>>>>>>>>>>>Your favorite rapper's

His music lacks creativity, he is an example of how bad popular music has become. It makes me sad that people listen to **** like this when they could be listening to real music by musicians with passion, energy, creativity, skill and intelligence.

He's ok. They probley hate on him because he repeats himself and people think that his music don't mean nothing. I think alot of other people like him because he got different dance moves and they can dance a certain way to his music and he got good dance music. He never said he was the best, but I did hear in a song "Don't Get Mad" he said that he's the kids favorite rapper, but I doubt he mean it littarly.

I don't hate on him, but he does kinda repeat himself alot, but atleast some people like him and he's accepted and he can make alot of money and get stuff he wants and more people like him.

Maybe he or his song writer could think of what else to put in the songs, maybe some other people repeat themselves and people like that so he probley thought that could be easy to do, maybe he didn't live a life like where there's shotting or the ghetto that other people rap about, maybe he just didn't wanna rap about his life or maybe he wanted to make dance moves or something.

Eigne is right.

His music is so uncreative, it makes me laugh when I here it.

Here's an example.

Soulja Boy isn't the only person that people target. But he is the main target because he is one of the more fake rappers in the mainstream rap industry.

He's fake, because he is a 17 year old raps about having sex with "hoes" when, -in reality land- that doesn't happen.

I'm sure some people just hate his music. Not him personally.

You got a very good point there. So you wanna know what makes Soulja Boy so bad for Hip Hop?

Well it's not HIM personally...it's his music in which
claims to be Hip Hop. It's other things too..like Billboard..MTV..BET..radio stations...they all say Soulja Boy is Hip Hop & the kids believe it because if it's on TV..then it must be true(that's what kids really believe). Soulja Boy is nominated for a Grammy in the Hip Hop Category...and the kids have to believe it due to the fact they come home from school & turn the TV on A.S.A.P!

I wouldn't worry about him too much tho...the day will come when artist like DMX, Busta Rhymes, Dre & other hardcore rappers will regain the viewers of Hip Hop..if not them...then someone like them :-)

The day is coming...oh yes..it's coming!

I LOVE CRANK THAT!!! ITS SO AWESOME!!

"Real" Hip Hop never left. Yall are so focused on what yall dont have that you want open your freakin eyes and ears.

Soulja boy isn't killing hip hop.. He's ruining its reputation.

soulja boy is jus someone that tries to make up dances most of his music is wack he sucks

Just listen to his lyrics, look what he wears, the kid is a complete joke.. I don't even consider his music hip hop

SOULJA BOY iS AWSOME :]
i LOVE ? HiS SONGS'x && HiM OF COURCE :]

he lyrics has no true meaning to it. and his style is unoriginal i go to high school in atlanta and he was NOT THE FIRST to make "crank that" songs plus he recently moved to atlanta and stole everyone else's dance moves and lyrics

His lyrics are wack and make no sense
His beats are annoying
And his only liked by little girls

I'm not hating on a 17 year old that makes legal money, I'm just mad that people who have actual talent get pushed to the sideline so people like him can shine....Look how many plays that song has gotten...it just seems like when music is played that people actually have to think about...people are turning the station so they can listen to this idiot. I do agree that parents need to teach their kids right from wrong cuz i have always said hip hop is used as a scapegoat for bad parenting. Bottom line is young urban girls need someone to put on their walls just like suburban little girls put hannah montana on their wall. I think the record companies realize that...that's why we have people like soulja boy, lil mama, etc....We as adults are less likely to buy a cd that we can download for free...but as a parent i know that i am more likely to buy my kids something if they ask for it whether it's a cd or a stuffed animal....I think that's how he is doing so well...because our kids will bug the sh*t outta us until we buy the damn soulja boy cd, clock, bedsheets, and toothbrush (lmao..exaggerating)...but u get my drift....
