How are songs on a ALBUM ordered ?!

Question: I heart it was by recording dates ??

Answers: I heart it was by recording dates ??

If the artist is "signed" the production company has final say on the order of the tracks. It makes sense too. They are in the business of promoting and selling music and are going to be most qualified to make decisions of this nature.

If the artist is "self-producing" then the artist has final say.

i believe thats true

By catalogue number.

I gotta admit though, I misunderstood the question.

So this may not be correct. I *thought* you meant how're albums ordered by the record companies. You meant the song *sequence* on a given album....right?

If that's the case, it's usually up to the band, & producer.

Yeah or some albums tell a story so they might be ordered that way. Sometimes they put the lead single as the 1st track

nah. im pretty sure its how they want the album to flow.

if you mean the indivual songs from and album, not all songs on any lp or cd now are avaiailbe as singles, alot of songs are only avaiaible on the cd, sells more that way, you have to buy the whole cd for just 1 or 2 song you like or go to an mp3 siteand download it it is listed

I'm with Fonzie...

Edit: I'm still with Fonzie...and Darth...and all the other peeps who answered "how the band or producer decides"...peace.

Most of the time it depends on the artist.

Some albums even follow a formula like

1) Anthem
2) Happy song
3) slower song

well not necessarily that but something similar to that

It is up to the artiest what order the songs are placed on the album.

I am pretty sure the tracks are sequenced in whatever order the artist wants them sequenced in.

i don't know that one.

maybe the artist try to make a story...and he order them it that way
