Help with rock band gig?!
Question: I'm in a rock band and we're doing a gig in a school aduitorium - your averaged size one i guess - maybe the size of two basketball courts? We have a 300 watt bass amp (lol) a 35w guitar amp and and 70w guitar amp. Do you think we can pull this off without micing anything?

The bass and drums will be fine. The 70w should be fine as well, but the 35w should probably have a mic which means then the 70w guitarist is going to insist he has a mic too. So assuming you are getting a board for vocals, say 6 channel, you could pull off 3 for vocal, 2 for guitars and I would stick the last one in the bass drum. Thats assuming you are going to have a 6 channel board....if you are not, then yes it will sound fine not micing anything, you just have to adjust everones levels (including the drummer if hes a heavy hitter) to be even. Do this at soundcheck, if you are not given time for one, have someone in the crowd as your spotter, so they can come to you inbetween songs and tell what needs to go up or down. Good luck
hmm, 300w, 35w, and 70w, eh? lolz, i dunno why u'd need a 300w bass amp, but okay. two whole basketball courts. no mics for the drums, well, they are pretty loud (im a drummer). well, as long as you're not singing anything, i think you're good, unless there are some chatty girls there! my band also did a gig like that and i swear, these three girls were making more sound than we were! i just wanted to hit them in the head with one of my cymbals! well, rock on, dude! oh and you can visit my band at freewebs.com/oddofficial hope the gig works out!
