Why is it that only "good" music to you people is classic rock?!
Question: It seems like the majority of you people are so close minded about what "good" music is. Seriously, I can praise Sabbath or Zepplin a million times over and not here a negative word about it, but if I even so much as mention a punk band or a ska band or just a newer band of any sort, it's thumbs down or "WHY DONT YOU GET BETTER TASTE IN MUSIC!!!"
Why don't you people get off your high horse and realize that you are not going to change anybody's mind with your childish rants? Why can't you just let people alone?

See what I mean about music elitists? I'm sorry that you haven't been here in a while and had to come back to all the pricks here in R&P, that's why I left. I love classic rock, too. But I expanded my tastes to current rock and a few select techno tracks. And that's okay! You can't just go through life liking one genre of music, and one genre only, that's like only liking one type of food. You need variety and to change it up from the same old song, otherwise you'll snap, or at least I would. But people are increasingly stubborn, closeminded, and refuse to accept anything different. If they started to like Quietdrive, that would not be the end of the world. They would not be losing their rock credibility or becoming a "poser." They would just be adding more wonderful bands into their music collection. And they just can't realize that they don't have to forget the past to move on to the future. That's sad to me, especially because I expected more form music fans.
I haven't seen you mention a punk or ska band yet. But rest assured, when I do you will receive a thumbs up. I'm a fairly regular contributor to this board, and punk is my primary.
The last question I asked referenced the Vandals.
Point:
Stick around a little longer and you'll see there are quite a few who appreciate music other than Classic Rock.
Besides, there is nothing wrong with Classic Rock. Even punks can appreciate the likes of MC5, The Stooges, Velvet Underground, etc

I'm 47 and love all music,(rock) Zeppelin,Sabbath,Artic Monkeys,Family Force 5,Escape the Fate,etc..etc...I will admit that I don't know the different between what younger folks call punk,emo.It's all rock n roll to me,So Rock on dude!
Because people are lame. It's too uncomfortable to venture out on a limb and like something new, at least out loud.
Today's pop is tomorrow's classic rock. Be ahead of the times and like it now. Then when it's old and "new again" you'll be over it.
hay, i appreciate good music, any music yes im a great lover of classic rock, but i also love loads of 80's girly music, with lots of electrical instruments involved, madonna is another, leona lewis, happy hardcore, club classics, but i always go back to my top most fave which is classic rock, such as pink floyd, zepplin, hendrix, (im not into sabbath) loads just ignore the guys who dis ur type of music, loads of people on here love all sorts of music, u just get the odd few who just appreciate their genre and dont open their minds and ears to the evolvment of music today.

I think part of it is because Sabbath and Zeppelin are Uber-talented and MCR and FOB are supremely talentless retreads of other equally bad bands such as Nickelback and Matchbox 20.
You know how People can derive any enjoyment out of listening to band who have about 150 songs out and EVERY SINGLE one of them sounds exactly the same as the next is totally beyond Me.

Perhaps the answer to your question lies in experience. It's hard to praise a band too much that has one emo album out. Who can't write one album? I mean, really, how do you compare Fall Out Boy to the likes of The Eagles? And I'm not old, I'm in my 20's. I'm in a band myself. Sometimes it's hard to give respect to "pop" rock bands until they've got some skins under their belt.
Hey, I dig Classic Rock but it makes up a tiny fraction of what I listen to. Most of what I have, if it's not 80s Pop, was made after 1992 or 1993.
The greatest thing about this group is the very diverse tastes of everyone who contributes. Yes, I know a lot more about Classic Rock than I did when I first came in here, but the same can be said for Metal, Pop and even Punk. You will be a more well-rounded and informed listener by participating here.
But that's your choice.

Classic Rock is great.
When i was young listened to AC\DC, Ozzy etc. (popular at he time).
I then evolved into classic rock (which I still love), then I got into singer\songwriters (james taylor, cat stevens, gordon lightfoot, joni mitchell) etc.
Then I got hit by the afro\cuban and world music greats, and then Jazz, talented instrumental bands (medeski, martin and wood\Shooglenifty).
Which leaves me with a broad taste in great music.
I only one 1 hip-hop Cd and that is Jurassic 5 (these guys have immense talent).
I hate vocal, pop and country...
Because they are old!! It's 2008.......the 60's and 70's were 40 to 48 years ago!!! It's time to move on people!!!
But they wont.....the nursing homes will be crawling with the baby boomer generation wearing black Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Sabbath and Zeppelin concert t-shirts in a few years.
I totally agree. When people ask for new music like punk, alternative or ska bands I can always see thumbs down except when it's all freaking classic music. It annoys me a lot. There are people here who take all this, and I'm one of them. At least I know I'm not alone.
