Question: I was listening to this mix which was called, “90s Hip Hop”. Now don’t get me wrong, the cd was dope! Had some tracks on there that I haven’t heard in a long time. But they had that song by P.M. Dawn….remember "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss"

Weird. I don't consider that hip hop, r&b yes, hip hop no. Interesting how some would categorize a hip hop song. I don't even recall any rapping in that song if I'm not mistaken.

Kinda sorta I mean if KRS threw him off stage (or them how ever u wanna think...one guy got tossed the other watched in hippy horror) and he gets his shoutouts in hip hop history...so by default of them sampling and being hip-hop hippies sorta kinda...

I remember when the song came out. It sampled a popular New Wave song from the 80's as well.
Anyways, it was a hit to mainstream/pop but at the time there were so much other great music out, that most Hip-Hop fans didn't like it. Also, as stated before KRS-1 got them thrown off stage.
I mean, it does have all the elements of Hip-Hop in it, but it was really soft.
I remember P.M. Dawn..but it's not considered Rap or Hip Hop....it's mostly R&B with a poetic tone-like setting. Almost like you're at an poetic session while you're high....it's kinda funny!
