Who do you think has the best vocal range?!

Question: someone who is very versatile in their vocals

Answers: someone who is very versatile in their vocals

Mike Patton no one else comes close
(All the little girls are going to say "Who's He" or "Gerard")

If we're talking about popular music, Freddy Mercury was about as good as it gets.

Chuck Schuldiner

i think the best embodiment for this is freddy mercury, i know that i may be getting fooled by the immense multi-tracking queen did with their work but his voice allowed them to function as a band and to experiment the way they did

^^^ I agree with Capt. Frank, Gerard = loss.

My pick is Bruce Dickinson, he was actually trained in opera if I'm not wrong.

Moonman: Death = Epic Win, nothing is better, NOTHING.

Freddy Mercury is #1 followed by Bruce Dickinson

Whitney Houston has a set of pipes.
I think Bryce Avery (The Rocket Summer) has really good range too.

Mikael Akerfeldt
Jari Maenpaa
Peter Tagtgren

Rody Walker

Thomas Erak

(WHO ARE THEYY?!)

King Diamond, he's a heavy metal singer of the same band name and has a painfully high falsetto, in addition to a wide range of octaves

King Diamond, Bruce Dickinson, Dani Filth

Robert Plant

Ian Gillian, Robert Plant & Chris Cornell come to mind here!!!

This may sound as a surprise but I think it's the late Harry Nilsson. He had a multi-octave vocal range and showed it well on the song "Without You".

Oliver Sykes

Maynard James Keenan - Tool
Layne Staley - Alice In Chains

David Draiman from Disturbed. He goes from sounding very angelic to sounding demented to screaming.

Freddie Mercury
Robert Plant

Song=The Trial
Artist=Pink Floyd
Vocals=Roger Waters

Ha

I think Mariah Carey. Sorry I am sticking to my answer.

The lead singer of Blind Guardian. He is the best singer, hands down.

Geoff Tate From Queensryche. Listen to Take Hold Of The Flame he goes from deep voice to one of the highest pitched screams there is.

Candice Night
Robert Palmer
Freddie Mercury
Lindsey Buckingham {If you've ever heard the 'ooh-ahhs' on Fleetwood Mac's 'Big Love', that was all him on his own, not him and Stevie as everyone thinks}

Howard Jones Of Killswitch Engage,that dude is just rediculously talented,he can go from singing to sounding really pissed,he just has the most range I've ever heard from any vocalist and his singing is good I mean real good,he could do any genre he wanted but the dude does metal and his voice is great,I think if you listen to "Rose Of Sharyn" you'll see what I mean,that guy can do it all,good metal gruffy voice and a good melodic voice,the best melodic voice around I think,he can go from putting a baby to sleep to starting a revolution with that voice ya know
Sookie good pick with Chino,he's realyy good too and the Deftones are as underrated as it gets

Back in the day...Pat Benatar. She was classically-trained in Opera before transitioning to Rock, and had a vocal range somewhere around 6 - 8 octaves.

Versatility-wise, it would be Chino Moreno. He can go from a whisper to a scream like no one else.

Edit: Another Day - agreed! :)

diamanda galas. there's no-one quite like her...

Robert Plant

I still say David Draiman of Disturbed is massively underrated as vocalist.

Roy Orbison, Mike Patton and Chris Cornell. Roy O. is definitely high up on my list, his range was HUUUGE.
