Maybe you should listen to them and judge for yourself. I , myself really like alot of their stuff. Lyrically i find them to be better than most newer bands. Please by all means take a listen I'd love to hear what you think.
They are a band that sounds a lot like the rest of the music landscape these days. A punk-pop band that produces music without any true "depth". They almost sound like they are trying to imitate the Ramones, just replacing the fun time almost surf punk with darker, brooding, stereotypical teenage angst. The lead singer has a tendency to scream, and the greatest sin of all, you can't hear any bass. To be honest though, I'd rather listen to MCR than any of the modern rap or "R&B" artists.

Well, my friends love them so I had the misfortune to have hear their two newest albums at least 10 times each (and even worse, I know the lyrics to their songs now). They're music to me is mediocre and trivial and I can't connect to it at all. They're just another talentless band that seems to gain excessive fame and their big cult like following tends to be very exessive and annoying.
Complete garbage.
My ears bleed at night because of them.
They are an amazing group. I'm not into what most people refer to as the prototypical "Emo" group, but the guys really raise the bar and standard for their competitors. Even though I thought that their major label debut "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" was repetitive and typical throughout, their follow-up to it entitled "The Black Parade" was an amazing concept album, blistering heartfelt and saturated with talent and originality. What makes them so impressive is the extreme leap and improvement from one album to the next. It is rare to hear bands progress so much in this day and age and quite frankly, really makes you wonder how far out and in what direction they can go musically over the next decade.
Remember that with any band you have to listen to where they started, where they are, and hear where their going. Some bands come out with a great debut and crap out for 10 ablums after, some put out 3 terrible albums before finding a groove and getting it right, the best though tend to steadily improve on each album getting better in talent and originality. To be honest, in 20 years MCR may very well be one of the few bands that anyone will remember from the "Emo" genre. Also, try not to judge a bands music by the pretentiousness of it's fans.. Give any group you have never heard an honest listen for yourself and make your own judgements.. After all, it's only music to be listened to and enjoyed, or be ignored and not heard at all..

they suck. if you listen to them youll like them for a while then trust me they get really annoying. there songs have no real meaning. they all want you to think the songs have some deep meaning but they have no meaning at all.

You know. I have to say- I've been bashing this band for months now. & it was fun. But though I may take a huge hit in my "rock cred'", I have to be honest w/ you & myself. I've given them a true listen in the last few days (in 'secret') & I think they've gotten through to me. SOME songs. I still don't like the obsessive fans, but I hate to admit it, but this band has found a new (gulp) ..fan. It grew on me. This was after *repeated* listening.Here come the thumbs. By the way, if you believe anything I just wrote above, you've been smokin your hair.
I think they are the most awful band out there, I cringe every time a song of theirs comes on the radio. That's why I stopped listening to KROQ...
I actually listened to their CDs (borrowed em from a friend) just so I can get a good idea of what their all about. But boy...if you like whining and screaming un-musical stuff about the sad life of guys with make-up, then they may be for you.
You may wanna look into something else, dude, that's a band that only little teenybopper girls like. Don't become one of them. No musical talent at all.
(It's also a sign that you have no judgement in music.)

It is completely true..
I have never heard anything from their catalogue.... and I never will. Read a short discription in Wikipedia ( because so many persons post questions in Y.A.).
No interest in that genre.
I don't care for them or their music at all.
I personally thing that MCR is a great band. I love their songs and Gerard's voice is kinda scary but it gives the music sort of a dark edge. I love the song The Sharpest Lives and Famous Last Words! <3
They are a solid, creative band, and I like rock, and their genre of music, but I just plain and simple don't really like songs by MCR.

i LOVE them. they are probably my favorite band. they are really original (people will say otherwise....they claim MCR is just following the "emo" trend....even though thats not possible seeing as MCR isn't emo and its every other band that is copying MCR after seeing their success...) and they have real talent and Gerard Way (singer) has a very unique voice and has only gotten better since he sobered up. yep they're pretty much AMAZING!

oh and as for the people who say their songs have no meaning.....you can just look up their lyrics and you'll see that its not true. their songs are very meaningful, and if you can't see that then you just aren't smart enough to understand. ok here comes the "thumbs downs".
