Is It Worth It To Buy 'Master of Puppets'?!

Question: Not just if I wanna get into metal, but just if I wanna listen to good music?
I mean I listen to Bowie and Ramones and SOAD, think I'll like it?

Worth every cent! It is the beginning of metal. Ride the Lightning is awesome too. They were sooo... good back then.
I like The Ramones and SOAD too. So it would actually be a good choice to listen to.

Those bands aren't Metal. No its not worth it if you're going to buy a Metallica album buy an album they made when they used to be good from early works like Ride The Lightning.

I think so at least
As long as you're starting with older Metallica albums, and not skipping straight to St. Anger (it's evil, don't fall for it!)
But albums before Master Of Puppets are even better

I liked "Master of Puppets". Not as much as "Kill em all" or "and Justice for all".

Hell yeah! That album kicked off the thrash genre single-handedly! Def; a metal milestone album.

It's a classic so yeah it's worth it.

Definately, I'd get the first 4 albums

Metallica wasn't up my alley, but the best one is Ride the Lightning has a pure and raw thrash sound.

If youre going to buy an Metallica Master of Puppets album thats a good choice or theres other Metallica albums also that are good also and those other bands aint metal

Master of puppets is early Metallica, I think even if you're not into metal it would be a good choice.

If you listen to the Ramones, which is punk rock (the opposite of heavy metal), you may have some trouble stomaching it, being that the Ramones have so many songs clocking in at 2 minutes flat with little technicality, and the shortest song on MoP is 5:15, with guitar shredding galore. SOAD is nu metal, not quite Metallica (early stuff)...

Then again all my views are coming from a metal head (so I naturally like MoP) so hope that helps a bit.

Yes. Metallica in general is worth the money. I mean, I can download anything for free on the internet nowadays, but I would rather *pay* for a Metallica CD than download all of the songs on the internet. They made history and are worth the money. I don't know if you should actually start with Master of Puppets, I guess it depends on whether or not you have any other albums already. You should start with their earliest stuff and work your way forward. My favorite album is the Black Album.

M.O.P. has been voted as the best metal album of all time; go for it! But my fave of Metallica is Ride the Lightning- and they were like 19-20 years old!

if you want to get into early metallica, then 3 albums are essentials: "kill 'em all", "Master of puppets" and "ride of the lighting": also try any chances with bootleg metallica which GREAT music as their started BAY trashers, before they FAILED miserable in pool of mainstream vomit

SOAD...nu metal, you can try metal, CONSIDER YOURSELF BEING WARNED :)

Yes. If you like heavy music at all it should be mandatory listening. If you can stand and even like some of Slayer's stuff then you should give this a listen. It is some high quality music.

Absolutely. If you're a metal fan that is one of the quintessential albums to own. Guitar World Magazine did name it the third best metal album of all time after all.

it is good.. go a head and buy ... there are too many good songs in there

best metallica there is which means some of the best metal there is---- its an album that requires repeated listens, very complex music that changes constantly throughout the songs---no 2 chord wonders here!!!!

If you are going to buy a Metallica Album this is the one to buy. If you like it also buy Kill Them All, Ride the Lightening, and Justice For All, and the Black Album. I think you won't be disappointed.
You could even preview some of the songs on Limewire.com so you will not waist any money.

dude just get into metal
you'll end up cumin over how good it is!
dude if you want the real metallica listen to "so f*cking what"
ahh best song ever!
peace out man
p.s SOAD is metal well it's early stuff is considered to be metal anyway stuff like "war?" and "peephole" is metal.
Ramones (god bless them) are punk!
david bowie is a mixture of a lot of different genres but not metal..

Try the Black Album too. That's where you'll find hits like Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters.
