Why do I dislike hip-hop music so much?!

Question: I've tried, I really have. It still sounds like noise. The monotonic chanting, often it's practically yelling, grates and gives me a headache. When I was young, if the radio landed on a news or classical music channel I would change it in seconds. Now I have to leave the radio pinned to a news or classical music channel to have any hope of avoiding hearing hip-hop. Should I just kill myself already?

I want to reiterate what Chubbs has said...

Please listen to the REAL stuff before classifying the music as a whole. Believe me...TRUE hip-hop lovers are going to agree with you that most of the stuff out there now is just noise.

--Common
--Talib Kweli
--Mos Def
--Nas
--Kanye West

And although I do believe Tupac is one of the best rappers to have ever lay down a track, he comes off a bit strong for someone who doesn't like hip-hop. "Dear Mama" is a great song, but it is not all of who he is.

Granted, you may not like the artists we've listed, and if you don't, that's ok, but just know that those are real hip-hop artists. And I agree with one of the other guys...you're not going to relate to every genre. That's just the way the world goes around.

Just give those guys a chance...

cuz hip hop now a days isnt hip hop

it makes my ears bleed even though i love hip hop
real hip hop is different

radio doesnt have hip hop anymore its hip pop

If you don't like it, then why are you trying to force yourself to? Just don't listen. There are plenty of stations to listen to that don't play Hip-Hop.

Compare hip-hop to Mozart.No comparison.
You've got taste. It's fashionable to like strange creatures.
That doesn't mean that you have to.

No, you just refuse to be politically correct and won't follow the sheep crowd, who embrace every dumbed-down cultural uprising that comes along. Stay the course, and know you have friends!

I won't blame you for hating the **** on the radio. I hate it too. Those songs aren't real hip-hop:
Listen to these songs. it will change your mind:

Where do you live? Is your radio tuned just to 3 stations? You should be able to avoid hip-hop music in this day and age.

It aint for everybody, just like Rock, Country, and any other genre aint for everybody... its really nothin wrong with that, but I think you're exaggeratin just a *TINY* bit.

It's like any other genre, in that not everyone can identify with it. Some songs/bands/styles just don't hit everyone the same way.

"The monotonic chanting, often it's practically yelling, grates and gives me a headache."

Funny, I could say the same about rock. Don't you have anything better to do than to be a wack hater?

Sounds like it's making you nervous? If it doesn't excite me,
I just don't bother.

U should try listening to the real stuff. The stuff where the lyrics actually make sense. GOOD music. Talib Kweli Mos Def Kanye West Common Nas...

Music today has lost artist creativity. Back in the day artists had new ideas and creatice control. Now a days producers only make track that are main stream that will hopefully appeal to a mass audience. It's sad but true. If you wanna listen to hip hop, try KRS one, or Eric B and Rakim, Tribe called quest. Older stuff like pre 2001.

You're entitled to your own opinion of rap,and whether you like it or not.I love rap personally, but I have respect almost every music genre, cause with every genre there is a certain x-factor that endears them to their fans.I don't necessarily have to like it,but the least I could do is respect the genre.

jackass

your too close minded. you may say your trying but your still not allowing yourself too see what hip hops about. maybe your afraid that you might find yourself actually liking hip hop therefore you will appreciate the music and may change your perspective therefore allowing yourself to be more openminded. hell you might change as a person maybe your afraid of change sometimes change is for the better so ill leave it up to you.

because hip-hop s@cks!!!!!!!!music for low-intelligent people!!!!

Because it is annoying crap.

It shorrible it has no meaning it is horrible music you are normal i so agree its horrible music
