If you've ever heard 50 Cents mixtapes before he was signed, you would have no choice to agree that he WAS a great rapper. His first album Get Rich or Die Trying was a GREAT debut album, and led me to believe he was going to be the next Legend of Hip Hop. What happened to him after that, I have no idea but there is no comparison to what GARBAGE he has released lately to the music he made BEFORE his fame.
Sell. I know a lot of other people think he had some skills then sold out, but I've never heard anything (including the really early stuff) that's made me think he was worth sh!t as a rapper. His rhymes are lame and repetitive, his subject matter is on the same level as his rhymes, he needs to learn how to ennunciate (bullet stuck there or not) and his flow is beyond lame. Not that he cares - he seems to only want to make money, even if that means selling his soul and hijacking hip hop's good name to do it. I actually think he's worse than Soulja Boy.
Add: Laxkid, you should go back and read my answer PROPERLY. I didn't say I'd never heard his earlier stuff. I said I had heard it and I still don't think he was any good.

His mixtapes are hot, and I really liked all his albums except the last two. He brought a different style, although he wasn't a master lyricist , the way he said his rhymes was what made him popular. His mixtapes are hot, if you disagree then I think you're an asshole.

Yeah he was actaully better before "The Massacre" dissing Ja Rule..and even before Dissin Ja Rule he was ILL making it to mixtapes & dissing other rappers by saying names & what not...I don't think any other rapper ever did that..bold move!
ANyone else that say he sucked before "The Massacre"..they probably didn't listen to anything before then. If so..it probably wasn't playing on the radio as much for them to like it good enough....
