For me, I'd hear a song & think- "Man I KNOW I could play that if I had a guitar & learned a bit!" Plus, I was really wanting to play my favorite songs myself. I was tired of seeing 10 year olds able to play. I thought, hell, if THEY can do it, so can I. So I got my 1st guitar at 19.

I'm still very much "in school" & hope to keep improving....

I picked up a guitar for the same reason. Also, so I could play music like my faves, and guitar also helps me to write my own stuff. I also picked it up to get girls! XD

Thats basically how it started for me too. The sound and power of the electric guitar had a big effect on me. Playing 15 years, not professionally though.

its just fun to go and make up stuff or play along with ur favs
o and its just stress reliving to kick in some major distorsotion and throw my guitar around

I have played for 11 years and I play for the love of music. Thats what I want to do with the rest of my life is play music so thats why I play. Plus the chicks dig it so thats always a plus. And I love teaching others how to play.

Because I love Rock/punk/metal music & it sounds.. lovely!!

Because of Mr. Chester Burton Atkins.

I got to play with him, too, in 1997.

to keep me sane.
My dad was a guitarist in a little-known D.C. band when my brother and I were little he would tell us "when you were born your Mama said to me, these kids are gonna save the world someday, I just know it. so I said, I guess there gonna be rock n' roll-ers then" Ive played since I was old enough to pluck a guitar string and I don't think I can ever stop. Id just as soon stop breathing.

When my dad left to go th Iraq, He told my brother an me that every time we played our music, he would be able to feel it in his heart, so he told us to play for him often.

Now, even though my Papa is gone I keep playing for him, hoping that wherever he is, he will still feel it.

sorry, you didn't need to hear my sob story.

i think i'm an addict i was playing guitar for 8-12 hours a day but i have since cut back to about 3 hours a day. i just like being on stage . that must be it ....

i play guitar b/c music is in my blood...im from lousiana and everyone(well not EVERYONE of course) plays an instrument(trupet, sax, base, electric, drums...) ive played sax for abt 11 years, and guitar for abot 2.5 years...

the only thing is i dont like when i CAN play my fav bands music...i used to love 3dg(they r ok to me still) but their music gets old, they use that same dropped d tuning...and even an ametuer like me can play their "solos." same with greenday, 10 years and breaking benjamin...

well, if i could play solos from mastadoon, megadeth, ill nino's music, or something like that then i probally wouldnt feel the same...lol
i guess its just funn y how the young kids call "rocking out" a "rock' song with the same 3-4 power chords...lol

I dont know how to but its something that i would love to learn how to do... i love music

I actually play the bass, and one of the main reasons I do is that I know almost no other people who do, and I wanted to be in a band with my friends.
Les Claypool was probably my biggest influence.
:]

When ever I hear a good metal song I just emerse myself in the guitar lyrics ( It speaks to me ) and I go of and make my own "Story"
