What do I really think of Tesla?!

Question: I know I've given most of you a hard time about Tesla - so I went and downloaded a few of their songs, listened to them over the weekend & of the few songs I once remembered and found them to be pretty good...

I promise not to make any more negative comments towards them - but if you bring up Great White or White Lion as being great bands of the 80's, I will be forced to ridicule your taste in music :)

Thank you for that, I appreciate your post. As you already know, I'm a HUGE fan of Tesla. I've been to a couple of their shows and they sounded amazing. It's hard to find bands who can not only stand the test of time, but also have the ability to continue performing their music in such a high level.

What aggrivated me about a pervious post you made was where you stated that because 100 people couldn't name more than 4-5 songs by them, that meant that the band in their entirety lacked music ability. I just want to say that many people can name more than 4-5 of their songs, and for the people who can't, so what? Tesla is an underrated band and that is part of what makes them so great. They aren't another Aerosmith, or Rolling Stones. Since their music isn't blarring out of every radio station imaginable, it is more of a treat to actually hear their music when you get the chance.

Tesla has stayed true to their passion and remained rooted to what really brought them such high amounts of success. Not to mention, the band has remained a band with the same lineup in which they began with (with the exception of one guitarist).

With their creative lyrics, passionate vocals and out of this word guitar riffs.. Tesla is one of the greatest "underrated" bands of their time.

Check out a couple of these Tesla songs:
Hang Tough
Freedom Slaves
Mighty Mouse
Rubberband
Lazy days and crazy nights
Song and Emotion
Changes
Too late for love

Now, I do want to make a point of bringing up Great White and White Lion because they are also two talented bands. In my opinion, 80's hair bands were one the greatest era's of music to ever be formed. You are free to feel different, but there's no need to ridicule us hair band fans!

Thanks! :)

80's Man : You tell em! By the way... I agree on the Rolling Stones. I think they s u c k.. buuuut that's just my opinion LOL.

Okay, I'm with you in that there are a couple of great songs by Tesla, but they and GW or WL are not great bands of the 80's - although I did enjoy Great White's "Can't Get Here From There" but then again Jack Blades of Night Ranger was all over that and that was the 90's.

Wow. I haven't thought of any of those bands in years. Can I add some "not great bands of the 80's?" Faster Pussycat, Skid Row, and Cinderella.

really i dont care for them they had one or two songs that wasnt to bad lol ....the 80's lol

heeyyyy stop picking on my 80's hairmetal bands..what do you want me to do, start listing to MCR and FOB..(l.o.l)..

actually every body has an opinion on theyre favorite music and thats o.k.....i love the 80's to early 90's hair metal. its in my blood and thats my favorite. with that, i'll say i love great white. (save all your love, lady red light, rock me. and other songs). they are a great band..white lion was more of a one or two hit wonder. not one of my favorites but i dont hate them..ill take my hairbands over any of todays music personally..

just my opinion

I have quite a bit of Tesla's music. Their song~What You Give~ is my favorite . Check it out if you haven't heard it.
I hope you like it :) It's like therapy for me... lol .

It's all down to a matter of personal taste
I have had to eat some crow here myself about some newer bands because i was pretty much relentlessly hostile toward all new music when I came here but have since learned some new bands are quite good.
Myself I am a musician of nearly 40 years experience and I think My music taste is quite valid and I rather like Great White, wouldn't call them a great band of the 80's though..
You are right about White Lion however...they blew.
So did, in My opinion Motley Crue and Poison

it was real stand up of you to apologize like this, hat's off to You.
