Question: what happened to the days of the sugarhill gang when hip hop was about fun now people feel like if u dont listen to every song that has the deepest wordplay and most profound veiws on life in their music that its not real hip hop.

my thing is this. folks can listen to what ever wack artist floats they boat but i dont understand why there is so many talented mcs that dont get the shine that somebody like with far weaker material get. its like leonardo davinci is slumming it while some guy is drawing stick figures and making millions

Those are a couple of questions I had to get out of the way before I went on with my explaination. I don't respect talentless rappers, who don't study the art of rapping. Yes rap is a art form, and just like any other art form it is COMPLICATED. Over simplification is WHY people like me are disgruntled with rap as we know it.
Picaso: I used to have very little respect for Picaso as an artist. I felt like you can just "decide" you were gonna to paint pictures that didn't make sense or didn't look real. Until I took Art History in college. Picaso maybe one of the greatest atrists. Why? He painted a Mona Lisa that looked exactly like the real thing. He has talent and is a student of the art, so he can paint however he feels neccesary to express himself.
Plainly put, If you can't use 5214354315435^10th power metaphors in a song then you don't have the licence to rap anyway you want to. You did not study the art and are subject to critisism. Jay-Z can rap simplified because he is able to rap in ANY style, a true talent.
I don't respect talentless rappers. Because I can rapp in damn near ANY style.

You can't have it both ways. Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, and Hurricane Chris bashing is alright, but TI bashing isn't?
Personal taste is personal taste, but there is a difference between people saying they like Lil Wayne and that Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive. Because if they say the second one, I'm calling them out.

Why does it matter 2 u what other ppl think of the music u listen to? if u like it then that's all that should matter. everyone is gonna have their own opinion on what they feel is good music...we are allowed 2 make our own decisons and no one is saying that u have 2 conform to a particular stlye of music.....but u gotta understand that not everyone is gonna agree with u on what u think is good. a lot of ppl argue with me on the fact that i think jigga is the best...but i'm not gonna sit here and force feed them reasons on why i think that way...that's just my opinion...so...listen 2 whatver u want!
Ppl get on TI because he was named one of the Top 10 artist in Hip Hop by MTV and in the hip hop world u need more then record sells to be considered the BEST..Lil Wayne is fukd with because he claimed he is the Greatest and is no where near...I think it the fact that ppl are putting these dumb as statements out and if said enough ppl will start a bandwagon...I myself dont think that hip hop is dead I listen to hip hop thats is truely representing hiphop...It fine that KIDS listen to Souljah Boy or Lil Momma...Becus they are kids and thats what they choose to do lighten things up for kids to listen to...TI is good...but I wouldnt put you down for liking him...He's not better then J...but Jay is on another level anyways...Yea hip hop is all about fun...But it is also the messenger of the streets...
Basically hip hop enthusist believe hip hop is dead because there is no balance in the music...Its the same ish over and over...It pretty much sold out...to me Cuz everybody is making dance songs or crack music because the labels believe that will sell...Yea back in the days they want to have fun but also you had to compete to be better then the next rapper lyrically.
