Are Slash and Jimi Hendrix two of the best guitarist ever?!

Both of those guitarists were/are simply amazing. Slash is my god and my favourite between the two but there is no denying that Jimi is and was an inspiration to /many/ guitarists. May he rest in peace.
I would say they were both brilliant musicians, perhaps two of the best, I always go for jeff beck as the best though.

I'm inclined to agree. Your friend obviously doesn't know anything about great guitarists. Hendrix is my all-time favorite.....I can only imagine if he'd lived longer! ;)
Definately. Knew this kid once, he hated GNR but had slash/GNR posters on his wall. We asked him if he hated GNR then what's with the posters. He just said he hated GNR but thought slash was one of the best guitarists.

Look at how many fans that Jimi Hendrix has. Look at all the fans of old Guns N Roses songs. There is your proof.
I haven't paid enough attention to Slash to offer an opinion, but I definately agree that Hendrix is one of the best ever. The man was a genius.
You like rock and see Jimi Hendrix as a Legend and Slash as a Current legend but what you don't realize is that even though their both very unique, most people that really listen to rock and study music will tell you that neither of those guitarists are the best.
Rolling Stone listed Hendrix as #1on "100 Greatest Guitarists"
Slash on the other hand DID NOT even make the list at all.

I agree with your friend. Jimi Hendrix was revolutionary. Slash was too in his own right, but being revolutionary doesn't mean being good. It means being different. Best guitarists I think are Eddy Van Halen and Jimmy Page for sure...maybe Stevie Ray Vaughn as well
Its unfair to call any one guitarist "best ever", but since you asked Hendrix was one of the best and Slash is not and never will be.
